I have published the new features coming to YACReader 8.x. What do you think?

The new features look really good! I can't wait for the headless version of the server. Will it run on all the normally supported OSs (OS X, Windows, and Linux)?

Yes.
My answers are not necessarily official YACReader statements but mostly represent my own opinion in technical matters.

How long you have to wait depends on your own competence. Some users are already compiling and using the development code with headleass suport on their machines. Sure it's still WIP but they seem to be happy with it :)

No tutorial yet, some stuff (like the build system) is still work in progress. I gave some pointers on how to build and use the headless server on Linux on this thread:

www.yacreader.com/forum/support-linux/431-no-gui-patch-errors

The development code can be found on Luis bitbucket repository:

bitbucket.org/luisangelsm/yacreader/

Instructions on how to build YACReader are in the INSTALL.txt file. If that and the pointers in the other thread aren't enough to get you started, feel free to open a "YACReaderLibraryServer on Raspberry Pi" thread in the Linux section and ask for help.

Don Alex, writing tutorials and good docs for YACReader is something in my TODO list but I never have time for it :(

I would really appreciate any help with that.

I understand you :( youve done such a great app and you are alone... (as far as i know) i cant image how much work and how hard that was!

but i think tutorials for windows and mac are not as much nessasary as one for raspberry :)

i cant do a lot for you but i will donate for your work! :)

Well, there's still "the other guy who writes code for YAC*", also known as "me". :D

We also have the guys who do the translations and since version 8.0 we actually have seen a slight increase in people successfully compiling YAC* on Linux, so we're probably not doing everything wrong ;)

There is always room for improvement, though. For example, we currently have no build dependency checking in our build system. Once it is packaged, this isn't a problem, but for local builds on Linux it adds another layer of complexity which might give some users a headache. Since we have more than 1-2 guys willing to give this a try now I'll rearrange my priorities a bit and give the build system for the headless version some fixes for a "better build experience".
