When trying to make a new library in my comic folder, it shows
out of memory-Error opening database
and doesn't make it.

Took me quite a while to find out that this is due to me not having create permission for the folder.
The error message should probably be changed for this scenario.

That error message comes directly from the database driver so there is not much I can do.

So, I couldn't edit this before this got approved by a moderator: Apparently this doesn't have anything to do with the permissions. It reliably doesn't work on mounted Samba shares. Which doesn't make much sense to me, since, as far as I know, a mounted samba share is accessed like any other mounted filesystem.

not really, the locking mechanism of sqlite doesn’t work well with samba. you can try to mount the share folder using nolock as an option iirc.

Yes, that is a know sqlite bug. Nolock usually fixes it, but you should make sure noone else is accessing that database then ;)
My answers are not necessarily official YACReader statements but mostly represent my own opinion in technical matters.
